Event Type

Val Mustair is another one of Switzerland hidden treasures. Nestling behind the Offenpass on the way to Italy, the valley borders on the Swiss National Park and the well-known Italian ski area of Livigno.

The Offenpass which leads to the valley is an amazing starting point for MTB tours. For those who are willing to put a little bit of ascent in from the top of the pass, we can very quickly be in an alpine wonderland right on the edge of the Swiss National Park. Crossing the border is par for the course in this reason so don’t forget to bring your ID with you.

The riding in the area is mixed and for this weekend we will be focusing on trails best suited to intermediate riders. If you can safely get down the Uetliberg or Zugerberg Trails and like your mountain biking to be scenic rather than “hard-core” then this weekend will be right up your street. You will require a correctly fitting mountain bike in full working order to participate on this weekend.

We will meet at the top of the Offenpass on Saturday morning where our first tour will start (You will need to get a 6 am train on the Saturday morning from Zurich to get to the meeting point). After a day on the bike, we will make our way to our hotel to enjoy a relaxing evening before a shorter tour on Sunday to ensure we get back to Zurich at a reasonable time on Sunday evening.

The exact tours on each day will be weather dependant, but if conditions allow we will do a cross border tour on at least one of the days. If the weather is bad we will do shorter tours staying in and around Val Mustair.

Cost: 395CHF

Includes:
• 1 nights accommodation
• 1 breakfast
• 1 four-course evening meal
• 2 days guiding with a qualified mountain bike guide.

The cost does not include lunch and travel to and from Val Mustair

Payment:
Payment is due at the time of registration. Please transfer the amount due to the following bank account within one week of signing up for the weekend. Your place is only confirmed with a “Yes” RSVP and the transfer of the full course fee.

Refund Policy:
Due to the fact that a booking will have been made in your name the deposit is only refundable if you find someone to take your place on the course. We will, of course, offer a waiting list if the course fills and your place can be taken filled from there. Telephone number and email address of all attendees will be required at sign up.

Getting there:
It is possible to get to Val Mustair by train or car. Full travel details will be given course participants on the run-up to the event. Those arriving by public transport will need to be able to leave Zurich by 6 am on Saturday morning.

For those of you who wish to travel on Friday, I will look into arranging a hotel for Friday evening and some MTB coaching on Friday afternoon at an extra cost. (it is unlikely that we can stay in the same hotel due to another event happening in the area on Friday)
