Sihlpost, Zurich

Want to try Skitouring but haven’t yet had the opportunity? Then our Beginner Skitour is perfect for you.

The Plan:
The location will be made available to participants on Saturday evening before the tour by the mountain guide. The tour will take place regardless of weather conditions. The tour and location will be adapted to suit the prevailing conditions, but be run under the philosophy of no bad weather with the correct equipment.

The tour will be led by a local UAIGM qualified Mountain Guide. (Walter Gubler)

Tour Level:
The tours will be technically quite easy and will have in the region of 600m of ascent under your own power. Ascending with a pace of about 300m per hour is a prerequisite for participating in this tour. This means you should be fit enough to go on a full-day hike in summer, jog approximately 5km in about 30 minutes or ride up the Uetliberg or Zugerberg on a bike in about an hour.

You should have already made your first attempts at skiing off-piste and be able to link turns in easy off-piste terrain without having to return to the piste.

  • Fitness level to ascend 600m (+/-) at a pace of about 300m per hour
  • Ability to ski in easy off-piste terrain
  • Snowboarders must be with a Splitboard and have a level where they can easily traverse and link turns in off-piste terrain. You should practice with your Splitboard at home in advance to ensure you know exactly how to take it apart and put it together before joining the tour.

The tour will run with between 3 and 8 participants.
