Participants in this course will either be expected to be familiar with travelling in the mountains and have some basic alpine navigation skills. Planning your own ski tours in winter will be an advantage to participants on this course.
You will also need to have the basic equipment needed to travel safely in a glacier environment already.
Aim:
To familiarise yourself with navigation and route-finding in a glacier environment and the equipment needed to do so safely and learn the basics of glacier self-rescue.
Course Content:
This training tour will give us the opportunity to get more familiar with crampons, ropes, knots and glacier knowledge. You will have time to look at route selection on the glacier and familiarise yourself with the equipment as you make your way to the Hut where we will overnight.
On day 2 you will head out on a short tour to use the skills learned the day before. If conditions allow a short summit tour might be an option but the focus is more on training than summits in this course.

This is a worst-case scenario event, but if it happens this can not be avoided.
