The Upper Engadin is a mountain bike dreamland. The area is famous for the glitzy winter sport destination of St. Moritz but when the snow melts the area allows us to use the lifts and the trains to transport our bikes up onto the mountain and ride the countless trails in the area. The weekend will be run by a qualified Swiss Cycling mountain bike guide.
Who is this weekend for:
This weekend is aimed at beginner to intermediate level mountain bikers who would like to enjoy some stress-free tours in a scenic environment. You should be interested in riding single tracks with small obstacles such as roots or stones of about arm thickness. Some trail coaching will be provided over this weekend.
Proposed Programme:
Friday evening: Travel from Zurich to Celerina.
Saturday: Ride trails in the area around Celerina, Pontresina, St. Moritz and Silvaplana
Sunday: Train to Bernina Pass, ride trails back to the Engadin valley with some trail coaching along the way.
The lifts will not yet be open when we are in the Engadin valley so for Saturday’s tour will need to use our own power to for the ascent, but we will do this at a relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery. use Expect to do approximately 30 to 40km with approx 400-800m of altitude gain on both days.
If you would like to brush up your skills in advance of this weekend then you can check out our Intermediate or Improver courses running in May.
Weekend Cost:
425CHF
Includes:
• 2 nights accommodation
• 2 breakfast
• 2 days guiding with a qualified mountain bike guide.
• Train tickets within the Engadin Valley*.
• Bike transport within the Engadin Valley*.
• Bike wash and storage facilities.
The cost does not include lunch, evening meals, travel to and from Engadin or the train from Poschiavo to Ospizia Bernina (if we were to perhaps do this option on Sunday)
I would recommend people eat something on the way to Celerina on the Friday night and we will go to a Restaurant in the area together on Saturday evening.
* One possible ride for Sunday involves riding from Berninapass down to Poschiavo (weather permitting) the return train ride for the person and their bike is not included in the weekend cost. With a halbtax card this is approximately 11.20CHF (this ride is not definite, just one option that might be used)
