The fourth and final stage of our Tour of Lake Zurich once again turned out to be a amazing days early season trail riding. It began with a brutal climb straight out of the train station in Sihlbrugg to get onto the Albis ridge. Once on the ridge we were able to continue our climb to Albishorn on some nice singletrail. We stopped for a quick drink in the restaurant at Albishorn before continuing on the undulating but non technical trail along the ridge past Albispass.

After passing Albis pass we rode along fireroad to the radar tower between Albis and Buchenegg passes. Here we took a left down the Albis side of the ridge on a really flowy section of trail.

Sadly the trail ended back on some fireroad which we rode for about 500m before getting into another section of trail which was quite steep and a little more technical. Some nice tight turns and steep drops but ensured that there were grins all round as we another road section towards Felsenegg. Shortly before Felsenegg we took a left and had a few kilometres of XC type trail with some nice technical rooty sections and short climbs. This section of trail ended on a walking route which brought us back up onto the Albis ridge shortly before dropping down the Zurich side of the ridge on a really nice flowy singletrail which was the closest thing to a bobsleigh run for biles that I have ever ridden.
The natural banked turns get higher and higher the further you ride down the trail. This was taken near the start of the “bobsleigh” section.

our last sections of trail that dropped us back down to the Sihl right next to the Sihl city shopping centre and some cool refreshing beverages.
Four stages around Lake Zurich. The route we took is possible in 3 without too much trouble, but there are so many possibilities that you could do a one day version or take as long as you want. The best route is still out there to be found. It was great fun doing this and next year I’ll probably do the same thing going the other direction around the lake to start bike season.
