Just a quick intro with a view to getting to know the group and find like minded ski enthusiasts. Love off-piste skiing and touring though currently not managing to get enough skiing days in to improve. Feels like I am starting afresh every season. My family loves skiing but not quite as passionately as I do. Hence I am looking for group activities and to buddy up with like minded enthusiasts. I am fairly middle-aged, based in London and normally ski anywhere within a 3 hours drving radius from lake Como where my ski gear lives. The two days intro to off-piste skiing on 15/16 Jan sounds great.

Hi Daniel (@odcohn)

Welcome to the group and the forum. I hope you've had a good start to the winter already. What kind of skiing do you like to do? We have a thread where some people are trying to get together to ski on-piste and as you can see at the moment all of our events are off-piste (this might change at some point). But, in general, the idea of the group is to share the mountains and enjoy getting out whenever possible.

If it's off-piste skiing you are into then people often end up meeting skiing buddies on our weekends away. When skiing off-piste it's kind of important that the people have the same goals and risk acceptance levels, but on-piste it's easier to organise spontaneous get-togethers.

Maybe we will meet you soon either on one of the official events or on a spontaneous get-together through the forum.

Kind Regards,

Dave.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your note. I am mainly interested in off-piste and ski touring. I have done a little bit of both in the past but still feeling somewhat clumsy skiing off-piste. Just not enough practice I guess. The off-piste weekend on 15th sounds great and if this is going ahead for sure I will check out if I can join you for this. BTW, I would be coming from London to Milan and take a car from there. Just in case anyone wants to share.

@odcohn Off-piste and ski touring you are in the right place. We have guided ski tours every weekend and weekends away at various intervals. The Saturday tours might be a bit difficult as they are usually decided the night before and the location is within about 2 hours drive of Zurich so it could be hit and miss trying to get there from Milan, but some of the weekends might work.

The 15/16th weekend the intro and improver off-piste groups will go ahead. The introduction to ski touring will most likely be cancelled (we have some beginner ski tours later in the season). Currently the improver group is full but there is space in the intro group. Both of these courses will also have a short ski tour too just to whet the appetite of the participants. ?

Most of the events we have are geared towards Swiss Residents who are legally required to have certain insurances when you live/work here. If you are coming from abroad I'd just say to ensure that you have a travel and/or accident insurance covering you for off-piste skiing. I know that some UK operators in the past have been a bit hit and miss with covering off-piste.

Kind Regards,

Dave
