Event Type

The Introduction to Off-Piste Skills Weekend is for skiers who would like to improve their skills and start to spend more time away from the marked and controlled runs. Whether it’s your first time skiing deep snow or you’ve already tried but still have some problems this course is for you. For those with a little more experience then our Improver course might be right up your street.

Anyone who wants to attend our Freeride weekends in Vals or our Ski Tours and is unsure of their ability can use this weekend as a check-up and a way of improving their skills.

Your guide/instructor will do exercises with you on-piste to ensure the technique is correct before taking you off-piste and searching out different terrain features to ensure that you work on the weaker aspects of your skiing over the weekend. The exercises you practice on the weekend can be used in the future for you to improve your skiing throughout the rest of the season.

Prerequisites:

You should be able to ski comfortably and easily link turns on red ski slopes and be able to get down black slopes. Having already tried to ski next to the piste in a resort is beneficial.

Max No. of Participants:
8

Location:
Rothwald (Wallis)

This year we will take our off-piste skills training weekend to Rothwald in the Simplon area. This area is perfect for learning how to ski off-piste. There is a wide variety of mixed terrain accessible very easily from the lifts in the region and even if the weather/visibility is poor there are many tree lines that can be used to work on skills.

Accommodation is in the Mountain Hotel Wasenalp with amazing views over the Rhone Valley and a Hot Tub on the Veranda. We stayed in this hotel last year, the group feedback was that we have to come back again.

Weekend Cost:
475CHF

Payment:
Payment is due at the time of registration. You will receive an email with payment details shortly after registering for this event.

Refund Policy:
As we have taken a firm booking on the number of attendees the course fee is non-refundable. However, your place on the course is interchangeable. If for some reason you can’t attend the course we will offer your place to the next person on the waiting list. Once this person has confirmed their place and paid their deposit I will return your fee. I can only return the fee if your place on the course is filled by another participant.

NB: In the event of the weather or avalanche risk being too bad, the weekend may be moved to a different area. If this it may result in a small increased cost for the difference between the costs in the accommodations. This is a worst-case scenario event, but if it happens this can not be avoided.
