This weekend we left crossed the border to do some trail riding in the Vosges area of north east France. After an early start on Saturday morning we met up with Ash from trailAddiction and Trans-Provence fame crossed the border into France and drove 45 mins to the town of Thann. Once there we found our hotel and shuttled up to the Ballon d’Alsace. From there it was a short climb and straight into some quite technical singletrail which we have to admit to not having ridden all of. As we got further along the ridge it became more rideable with some nice tech sections mixed in with super flowy undulating trail.

After a quick lunch we descended to the to the valley on a super flowy and very fast trail. After a drink in the valley we were back on the bikes and climbing up to the farm at  Belacker… and this created the tone of the whole weekend. Shuttle up, ride down, ride up, ride down… until we had no more energy left then shuttle up and do it all over again.

The trails were superb and the weather amazing. The area has such a huge network of trails that we didn’t even scratch the surface of what was available despite having ridden 80km nearly all on singletrail in the two days. We’ll definitely be back to explore this are some more. Until then here are some pics. (More pics can be seen here)
